The Cherubic Hymn is sung as we prepare to walk with Christ on His entrance into Jerusalem and on His way to martyrdom upon the cross. It is a time for us to prepare to receive the most Holy and Life Giving mystery of the body and blood. It calls for us to cast aside all earthly cares and join the ranks of angels being mystically united in heaven and on earth. We focus solely on Christ, nothing else. Not our family, our joys, our sorrows, our worries, our pain. We stand in humility with our hearts lifted up, unworthy to receive the gift of our Lord and His sacrifice.
