The front has a holy icon depicting Archangel Michael in his role of trampling The Church’s foes as seen in Revelation 20, The Final Victory. The imagery of this holy icon is a reminder that “we fight not against flesh and blood” and that Christ has “overcome the world.” Holy Archangel Michael, chief of the bodiless powers of heaven, is shown riding a horse while spearing the devil with his right hand. He rides, holding aloft a copy of the Gospel in his left hand while simultaneously sounding forth this final victory through a celestial trumpet. Like the Apocalypse of St. John, the icon captures the deep symbolism and truth of these awe-inspiring images and reminds us to be faithful to Christ, The Lord of Hosts.
